Mustela Soothing Cleansing Gel is aptly named—she understood the assignment! Mustela is a French brand that makes a lot of skincare products for babies. I was very curious about the inclusion of Schisandra berry or “five-flavor fruit” (五味子/ wǔwèizǐ), which is very commonly used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This is the first I’ve ever heard of schisandra being used topically vs. being ingested. I really like the consistency of this shower gel—it feels very slippy, which is very satisfying sensory experience. I also love that it’s fragrance-free. It’s gentle and unique in that it has a slippery, light gel texture vs. a creamy, thick texture that’s so common for formulas geared towards sensitive skin. The only cons for me are: relatively small size for body wash, fairly expensive ($1.38/oz or $0.05/ml), and no refill container option (unlike the Mustela Baby-Child Cleansing Gel Fragrance Free $16.66, 13.52 fl oz (400 ml). I sadly missed when it was on sale recently for 25% off and I see that stock is really low. I hope iHerb continues stocking this amazing and unique body wash!
